Covid-19 test requirements for entry

Tourists entering Namibia are required to present a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours calculated from the date that the sample for testing was taken, and is to be issued by a laboratory that is certified in the country to issue SARS-CoV-2 PCR test results. No rapid tests are accepted to enter the country.

Important note: Fully vaccinated travelers do NOT need a PCR test and can instead present their vaccination passport at the entry point.

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Namibia and have at least 1 completely blank page for Namibian immigration to use.

Namibia does not have any particular requirements in regard to departing the country with a COVID-19 test. As such, guests should adhere to the COVID-19 requirements to enter  your next destination.

Covid-19 testing facilities

There are a number of COVID-19 testing facilities in Namibia including Pathcare, Namibian Central Labororaty, Covid Testing Nam, NPI Lab and others.
Pathcare has outlets in Windhoek, Otjiwarongo, Tsumeb, Swakopmund, and other towns and is the most convenient lab for COVID-19 PCR test or rapid tests depending on your requirements.

Trophy hunting in Namibia

Legal requirements of the process

In order to hunt trophies in Namibia and exporting them thereafter, the following is required:

  • A troping hunting permit issued by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism which includes the hunter’s name and residential address
  • An export permit which is usually provided by the taxidermist
  • A hunting guide certified by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism
Entering Namibia with your own weapon

No firearms will be allowed into Namibia for any reason other than hunting and/or organized and controlled Bisley shooting.

Guests may enter Namibia with the following firearms:

  • Bolt-action rifles of any calibre for the explicit purpose of hunting.
  • Doubles of all calibres for the explicit purpose of hunting
  • Shotguns, pump actions and semi-automatic rifles (excluding riot, military or policing weapons )

 

There is no limit on the number of firearms that can be imported, however NAPHA recommends no more than 4(four) hunting rifles per hunter.

A maximum of 100 rounds of ammunition may be imported per hunting rifle.

It is prohibited to bring any weapons including: handguns, semi-automatic and automatic weapons as well as crossbows.

All visitors that are travelling to Namibia are to provide a negative PCR test which is no older than 72 hours from the time when the sample was taken. Fully vaccinated people do not need a PCR test and can only present proof of vaccination.

Fully vaccinated travelers do not need a negative PCR test to enter Namibia.

No rapid tests are accepted, all visitors are to provide PCR test results issued by a certified lab in the country where the sample was taken.

Your passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of arrival in Namibia in order to enter. Furthermore, there should be at least 1 full blank page in your passport.

Hunters are allowed to bring a maximum of 4 rifles per hunter into Namibia. The ammunition is limited to 100 rounds per weapon.
